Mrs. Jannie Lou Miller, 74 of Oxford, passed away on October 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 2, 1949, in Taylor, MS, she was a proud graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 1967, where she excelled in basketball.
With a joyous spirit and a warm heart, Jannie held a deep love for her family and found great comfort in her faith as a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oxford. Moreover, her time spent at Mt. Comfort Baptist Church is cherished by many as she cultivated lasting relationships within her congregation.
Those left to cherish Janie's memory are her husband, Cecil Bowers of Oxford, MS, daughter, Tana Bumgardner of Mantee, MS, step-daughters, Lisa (Rich) Riales of Collierville, TN, Kay Bowers of Winona, MS, along eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Passionate about various pastimes, Jannie found solace in the simple joys of life. She adored cheering on Ole Miss Football, tending to her blooming flowers, and casting her line while fishing. Additionally, she delighted in sharing her musical talents through heartfelt performances during Karaoke evenings, bringing joy to those around her.
Jannie's unconditional love extended to her grandchildren, who brought endless happiness and light into her life. Their smiles were a source of immense pride and joy for her, creating countless cherished memories that will endure through the generations.
To honor her memory, a public viewing will be held on October 9, 2024, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home at 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm. with Bro Wes Hughes officiating. J.B. Bumgardner, Eddie House, Braiden Lee, Richie Logan, Brylee Poteete, and Zack Poteete will serve as pallbearers. Jannie will be laid to rest in Mt. Comfort Cemetery.
Jannie was preceded in death by her daughter, Celia Devona Miller, father, Paul Savage, mother, Irene Smith Savage, husband, James Alvie Miller, sisters, Debra Dooley, Lottie Horn, Betty House, Ann Phillips, brothers, Herbie Savage, Buddy Savage, Wayne Savage, Chester Savage, Harold Savage, Jerry Savage.
