Jenette Faye Prater

Jenette Faye Prater, 86, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, in Tunica, MS.  Faye was born on September 9, 1935, in Sarepta, MS, to William Huckaby and Ruby Pass Huckaby.

Faye was best known for her love of reading. She would read any book she could get her hands on. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetables in the garden. Prior to Faye's retirement, she taught school in the Rosedale School District for many years.

Faye is survived by sons: Mike Roland of Oxford; Jack Wesley (Tamekia and caregiver) Prater of Cleveland; and Rufus Doyle (Idabelle) Prater of Cleveland; a daughter Janice (Kenneth) Roach of Tupelo; sister, Nell (Don) Wilson of Brandon; grandchildren: Jordan McNelley, Tristan Prater, Jayden Prater, Jacques Prater, Kacey Prater, Aden Prater, Adam Roland, Josh Roland, Zachery Kent, Kris Kent, Keyana Manuel, Kansas Self, Billy (Kristen) Roach, Emily (Leo) Rausch, Phillip Roach, and John Roach; great-great-grandchild, Stella Faye.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents William and Ruby Huckaby; a daughter Mattie Lou Prater; brothers: James Huckaby and Tommy Huckaby; sister Mary Naramore; grandchild Benjamin Rowland; great-grandchild, Caden Farris; and two husbands: Marvin Prater and Billy Roland.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. A funeral service honoring Faye's life will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home, Bruce with Bro. Don Wilson officiating.  Zachery Kent, Jordan McNeely, Jayden Prater, Jacques Prater, Tristan Prater, and Adam Roland will carry Faye to rest in Sarepta Cemetery. Aden Prater, Kacey Prater, John Roach, and Phillip Roach will serve as honorary pallbearers.
