Jerry Wayne Hartley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Vardaman, MS, on July 29, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on May 21, 1939, in Vardaman, MS, Jerry was a cherished member of his community and will be remembered for his unwavering faith and dedication to his family.

Jerry graduated from Vardaman High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a Specialist (SP4) from May 20, 1958, until his honorable discharge on April 18, 1961. Following his military service, he spent many years working at Franklin Furniture Corporation, where he built lasting relationships with friends and colleagues.

A faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Houston, MS, Jerry served as a deacon and was known for his willingness to share his faith in his role as a lay minister. He had a profound love for fishing and enjoyed sharing stories and conversations with friends and family. A devoted supporter of Montana Missions, Jerry's life reflected his deep commitment to his country and his faith.

In 1960, Jerry married the love of his life, Doris Hartley, and together they nurtured a loving home filled with laughter, faith, and countless cherished memories. Along with his beloved wife, Doris Hartley; Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jerrie Leah Hartley of Vardaman; grandchildren Lee (Krystal) Parker of Vardaman, Amy White of Pittsboro, MS, and Myka Carothers of Calhoun City, MS; great-grandchildren Haley Reece, Garrett Parker, Ryan Land, Dana Jackson, Warren Jackson, Layla White, and Amir Hankins; his brother Bro. Fred (Glenda) Hartley; and his sister, Beth Bush both of Vardaman. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren affectionately called him "Tinedaddy," a testament to the loving legacy he leaves behind.

A public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Parish Hartley, Bro. Fred Hartley, and Bro. David Poyner officiating. Burial will take place afterward at Pinecrest Memorial Garden in Calhoun City, MS. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachery Card, Jimmy Faulkner, Gene Ruth I, Gene Ruth II, Bobby Thacker, David Sims, and Tyler Williams. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Chrestman, Robert Huffman, Mark Huffman, Garrett Parker, Lee Parker, Rhett Ruth, Ryder Ruth, and Trae Ruth.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Harrison Hartley and mother, E. Lorene Robertson Hartley.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Montana Missions. Donations can be mailed to C/O Bobby Inmon P.O. Box 72 Vardaman, MS 38878.
