Listen to Obituary

Mr. Jim Fred Hamilton, 85, of Vardaman departed for glory on May 6, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after an extended illness. He entered this world in the heat of a Mississippi summer on August 24, 1933.Jim was born to Rex Hamilton and Lera McQuary Hamilton in the Dublin Community.

Jim served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his stent in the armed forces he had a sweeping career with Davis Gin and Farm Supply where he ultimately retired as Service Manager. However, retirement didn’t last long for Mr. Hamilton, he went back to work for the Calhoun County School District’s Maintenance Department where he later retired to practice his hobbies fulltime. Jim didn’t idle unless a tractor was involved, in his pastime Jim could be found elbow deep in grease mending a tractor or piddling in his shop. Don’t let those greasy hands fool you under all that grime one could see a green thumb that cultivated an extravagant garden every year. Above all Mr. Hamilton’s expansive hobbies he cherished his grandchildren the most and enjoyed every moment he had with them. In addition to his bountiful life, Jim held a very unique gift that he kept for himself but told others about, the gift of eternal life that he received from his Savior Jesus Christ. His faith was evident, as he served others during his time as a deacon at First Baptist Church Vardaman.

Jim leaves behind wife loving wife Julia Sanderson Hamilton; Four Sons, James R. Hamilton (Gwendolyn) of Columbus, Jerry K. Hamilton (Melody) of Vardaman, Jeff Hamilton (Cindy) of Vardaman, and Joey Hamilton (Connie) of Bruce; Eight Grandchildren, Adam Hamilton, Emily Hamilton, Erica Lewis, Jenna Beth Hamilton, Jennifer Greer, Josh Hamilton, Mariah Frantz, And Nicola Maibom; Thirteen Great Grandchildren; Three Sisters, Bobbie Shefield of Winona, Flo Ellison of Woodland, and Joyce Lucius of Derma.
