Jimmie Mae Jones of Calhoun City passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Baptist Nursing Center in Calhoun City. Born on August 29, 1924 to Johnny Brannon and Fannie Evans Brannon in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, Jimmie was 94.
Jimmie was retired from the Pennico Hosery Mill in Grenada. A member of Central Baptist Church, Jimmie also attended Bethany Baptist Church in Slate Springs. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, and sewing. Although family and friends alike share their grief in her passing, there is comfort in knowing she has been called home to a better place.
Jimmie leaves behind Daughters Kathleen Marshall of Memphis, Tennessee, Martha Frances (Kenny) Cannon of Big Creek, and Mary Evelyn (Eddie) Long of Bruce; Son-in-Law Jimmy Mawk of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; 13 Grandchildren; and 24 Great-Grandchildren.
There will be a visitation with the family this Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A funeral service celebrating Jimmie’s life will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home chapel starting at 2:00 PM. Brother Kenneth Armstrong will officiate the funeral service, with Brother Joey Hamilton assisting.
Following the funeral service, Jimmie will be laid to eternal rest in Pine Crest Memorial Garden Cemetery in Calhoun City. Serving the family as Pallbearers will be Brannon Armstrong, Klint Byars, Kyle Cannon, Chad Harkness, Kel Lovorn, Harlie Mawk, Cameron Moore, Layton Morgan, Casey McGinnes, Landon McGinnes, and J.P. Stewart.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her Husband, James Jones; Daughter Carolyn Mawk; and Sister Annie Rae Blaylock.
