Jimmie Dee Wait McCormick, 90, of Bruce departed for her home in glory on February 9, 2021, at Bruce Community Living Center. She was welcomed into this world on May 24, 1930, by her late parents James Wesley Wait and Maudie Blount Wait.
Jimmie Dee spent many seasons of her life assisting with shaping of young minds at Bruce Elementary School as an assistant teacher. She also began each school day early and ended it late as she braved the adventures only a school bus driver could undertake. Jimmie Dee raised cattle alongside her husband G. V. until his passing in 2003. With a strong work ethic in her soul she continued raising cattle until she reached the ripe young age of 80. She could often be found tending to her vegetable garden in hopes of a good harvest. As a member of Robbs Baptist Church, she hid the words of the Lord in her heart and cherished the gift of salvation He offered.
Jimmie Dee leaves behind an expansive family to carry on her legacy of love and witty humor two sons: Dave (Deb) McCormick of Houlka and Jeff McCormick of Bruce; one daughter, Paula (Curt) Tunnell of Pittsboro; seven grandchildren: Clint (Hope) McCormick, Cameron (Braeden) Reynolds, Caylee McCormick, Nick Tunnell, Caden Tunnell, Katie (Justin) Cox, and Josh Tallent; six great grandchildren; sister Ernestine (Donis) Jeffcoat of Soso.
She was preceded in death by her husband G. V. McCormick; parents James Wesley Wait and Maudie Blount Wait, and two sisters Billy Jean Logan and Marie Ferguson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2021, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service remembering her life will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021, at 2:00 PM with Bro. Kevin Chrestman and Bro. Scotty Bland officiating. Steven Cox, Clint McCormick, Braeden Reynolds, Colin Tallent, Caden Tunnell, and Nick Tunnell will carry Jimmie Dee to rest in Robbs Cemetery.
