Jimmy Earl Mills, 77, passed away on January 27, 2022. Jimmy was born in Bruce, MS on February 19, 1944, to Powell A. and Margaret Vanlandingham Mills. He was the sixth of eight children born to them. He attended grade school in Banner and high school in Bruce. He participated in the 4-H club and showed livestock. He also played football on the high school team.After graduating, he moved to Memphis, TN, where he met his sweetheart and eternal companion, Rachel Alline Ivy, while working at Frito Lay. They were married in Covington, TN, on October 8, 1964, and later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 1, 1976. He attended William R. Moore College of Technology where he enhanced his knowledge of machinery. He worked using this education as a maintenance manager at GE Electric, Block Drug, Kroger, and Seessel's, as well as numerous side jobs through the years. After retiring, he and Phillip started a lawn care business, Uppercut Lawns.Upon marrying Rachel, Jimmy gained two sons, Jerry B. Mills and Stephen M. Welch. They added to their family a daughter, R. Kim, and two more sons, Phillip B. and J. Shannon. Jimmy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in many different callings throughout the years. He acquired a strong love for the Savior, while making many wonderful and lifelong friends. They lived in Southaven, MS, Eagle Mountain, UT, and finally back to Bruce, MS.He is survived by his daughter Kim (Robert Vaughan); sons, Phillip (Cindy) and Shannon (Leesa); grandchildren: Kelsey Vaughan, Kortney (Justin Peck), Richey Vaughan (Alexis), Kade Vaughan, Tyler Mills (Katlin Hardy), Aiden Mills, Mia (Rhett Gum), Kyndle Mills, Blayne Mills, Darby Robertson, and Haley Mills; his sisters: Helen Bullard of Tupelo, Kathleen Warren of Tupelo, and Wilma Brown of Bruce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his loyal dog, Bernie.He was preceded in death by his wife Rachel; his parents Powell and Margaret; his sons Jerry and Stephen; his sisters Hazel (Ashby May) and Barbara (Jerry McCormick); his brothers Billy Wayne and Larry (Kathryn Todd); and brothers-in-law: Nolan Bullard, Murray Warren, and Homer Brown.Services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 12735 Hwy 4 West in Senatobia, MS 38668. There will be a viewing at 11:00 AM-12:45 PM with the funeral in the chapel at 1:00 PM.
