Joan Grist Jones

Joan Grist Jones, 85, of Bruce, MS, departed from this life on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Joan graced the world with her presence in the Fall of November 06, 1936. She was one of three children born to the late Louis Grist and Ruby Bond Grist.

Joan spent many decades married to her late husband, C.E. “Skeet” Jones, before his passing in 1998. The couple built a life filled with not only precious memories but also a loving family. She worked as an agent for the Mississippi Skuna Valley Railroad before retiring and practicing her hobbies fulltime. Joan, a free-spirited lady, did not let her age keep from enjoying life. She could frequently be found going for a twirl out on the dance floor or bluffing her way through a bad hand playing cards. Aside from keeping her dancing and card playing skills in tune, she was an avid Ole Miss Rebel sports fan that loved watching football and basketball. She also loved keeping the roads hot in pursuit of adventure while traveling. Above all things she dearly loved her family and found joy being in their presence. She attended First Baptist Church of Bruce where she learned about the many wonders of the Lord. Although she has departed from our presence, Joan has gone to freely dance in the sky with her loved ones.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service celebrating Joan’s life will take place on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Blake Darby, Mark Darby, Mark Ferguson, Joey Grist, Jeff Poynor, and Cecil Williams will carry Joan to rest in Memory Memorial Garden.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son Mike (Karen) Louis Jones of Oxford; one daughter Paula Jones Monaghan of Bruce; two grandchildren: Mika (Blake) Jones Darby of Bruce and Warner (Jessica) Carlston Jones of Oxford; three great-grandchildren: Delilah Raye Jones, Slade Darby, and Lennon Raye Jones.

She was preceded in death her husband C.E. "Skeet" Jones; her parents Louis Grist and Ruby Bond Grist; two brothers: Delane Grist and Joe Grist.
