Joe Willie Melton

Joe Willie Melton, 78, departed from this life on October 24, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, in Oxford after a brief illness. He was born into this world on January 26, 1942 to the late parents of Doyle Lee Melton and Pauline Swindle Melton.  Joe was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church.  He worked part of his life’s  career for Baldwin Piano Company of Greenwood and was a piano tuner by trade.  He also worked for Kellwood  Garment Company for a number of year before  his retirement.  He loved his coffee and socializing with his coffee buddies and talking about the latest news and world reports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bertie Walker and a step son, Billy Goodwin.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Lucille Nichols Melton, Calhoun City; step sons, Dewayne (Teresa) Carter, Big Creek, Robbie (Jennifer) Goodwin, Calhoun City; step daughter, Charlotte (Terry) McKinney, Vardaman; brothers, Jerry Melton, Bruce, Mark (Brenda) Melton, Bruce, Rick (Faye) Melton, Bruce; sisters, Jean Chandler, Houlka, Linda (Bro James) Taylor, Pittsboro; 7 Grandchildren and a special grandson, Jeremy Carter and 13 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. A funeral honoring Joe’s life will also be Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Taylor officiating in the service. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Zack Buchanan, Keith Smithson, Mark Simmons, Jimmy Taylor, Casey Tutor and William Tutor.
