Johnny Hall Dean of Calhoun City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the age of 83. He was a native of Choctaw County and lived most of his life in Calhoun City. Since 2021 he resided in Hattiesburg, MS.

He was born on April 9, 1939, to John Milton and Avonell Hall Dean. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Clara Beth Harris Dean. They were blessed with 57 wonderful years of marriage. He was also a loving father and grandfather. He loved spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. He was a career employee of the federal government. In 1996 he retired as District Director of the Farmers Home Administration. He served his country in the MS National Guard. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a lifelong Bulldog Fan. He had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed afternoons of golf at Pine Hills Country Club playing with his friends and family. He also enjoyed construction projects and MSU athletics. He was a member of First Baptist Church Calhoun City where he served as a deacon.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Beth Dean; his daughter Sharon (Chris) Davis; and grandchildren Mark Davis and Layne Davis. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Cupit and brother Jerry (Myra) Dean and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Milton and Avonell Dean and sister Jane (Harvey) Cook.

A funeral service honoring Johnny's life will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2022, at 1:00 PM in First Baptist Church Calhoun City with Dr. Anthony Kay and Bro. Chad Logan officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at First Baptist Church Calhoun City. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Weir, MS at 4:00 PM Those serving as pallbearers are John Dean, Jordan Dean, Kevin Moore, Woody Jones, Chris Hawkins and Dale Hayes.

The staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dean family as they walk through this season of loss. We ask that you keep them, in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the passing of their loved one.
