Jonise Tott Edmundson, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away at her home at the age of 85. Jonise was born on February 29, 1940, in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, and she spent her life in Vardaman, where she became a cherished member of her community.
Jonise, known affectionately to most as "Tott," was a member of Vardaman First Baptist Church, where she found strength and solace in her faith. A hard worker with an unwavering spirit, she reflected a deep love for her family and friends, creating a legacy of warmth and kindness.
Jonise wore many hats throughout her life. She married her husband Walter Fred Emundson on May 02, 1958. She was a former florist and the proud owner of Country Florist, where she brought joy to countless customers through her beautiful arrangements. She also owned Tott's Sweet Shop, a local restaurant that served up sweet treats and cherished memories for families in the community.
Her legacy lives on in her loving family: her devoted husband of 66 years, Walter Fred Edmundson Jr of Vardaman, MS; her daughter, Linda (David) Halloway of Vardaman, MS; her son, Walt (Paula) Edmundson of Vardaman, MS; and her sister, Betty Fleming of Derma, MS. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Justen Holloway, Wesley Edmundson, Emily Edmundson, and Olivia Black, who will fondly remember the love and wisdom she imparted.
Jonise was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Melton, mother, Dora Melton, daughter, Wanda Gail Edmundson, sisters, Emma Gene Ward, Ann Newman, Sally Franklin, and Etoyle Mason, brothers, Jimmy Melton, and Charles Melton.
A graveside service will be held on March 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman, Mississippi, with Bro. Johnny Cherry officiating. Hunter Black, Wesley Edmundson, Joey Fleming, David Holloway, Justen Holloway, and Kevin Stafford will serve as pallbearers.
Tott will be dearly missed but will forever be in our hearts, as we cherish the memories of her love, and generosity.
