Joseph Earl Hopkins, Sr.

Joseph Earl Hopkins, Sr., 49, passed this earthly life Saturday, September 26, 2020 after a brief illness at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Oxford. He was born in Pittsburg, PA August 23, 1971.  Joe was a previous construction worker and a painter by trade.  He later started to work for Wal Mart working in the meat department.  He was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church.  Joe loved to cook and especially barbecue for his family, friends and church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bo Sides and Minnie Phelps Sides.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Tammy Green Hopkins, Bruce; daughters, Kayla Hopkins, Columbus, Brittany (Josh) Austin, Bruce, Destiny Hopkins, Bruce; son, Bubba (Nicole) Hopkins, Bruce; sisters, Edna “Sissy” Sides, Bossier City, LA, Cindy Sides, Columbus, Sandy Sides, Grenada, Crystal Whitehead, Columbus; brothers, James Hopkins, LA, Jimmy Sides, TX, Lawrence Sides, Columbus, Tim Sides, Columbus; grandchildren, Allanah Parson, Makenzie Austin, Jaxston Hopkins, and a soon to be a new arrival in the family, Maelynn Grace Austin.

Visitation and funeral service  will be Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM  at Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. J.R. Eaton, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Comfort Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Mark Cisena, “Bobby” J. Belen Nino, Mark Ragon, Luis Sosa, Thomas Sosa, Josh Surall, Robert Sutherland, and Bill Worthey.
