Joy Lavette Green

Joy Earnest Green, age 91, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 in Vardaman, MS. Born on January 20, 1935 in Webb, MS, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Glenn Earnest and Laura Bell Brooks Earnest.

Joy graduated from Tallahatchie High School and later attended Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. She was a loving widow to Bud Green, a sister, an aunt, and a friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Joy is survived by her brother, Brooks (Carol) Earnest of Marks, MS, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Hansel "Bud" Green; father, Wiley Glenn Earnest; mother, Laura Bell Brooks Earnest; and brother, William Glenn Earnest.

The family expresses a special thank you to Lisa Clark, Jessica Orr, and Denise Sharpe for their compassion, care, and love shown to Joy during her final days.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman, MS with Bro. Wayne Gullett and Bro. Phil Lucius officiating. Joy will be laid to rest at New Providence Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are David Hugh Earnest, Keith Havens, Phil Lucius, and Larry Stovall.
