Joyce Schmitz Carter, 77, of Bruce passed from this life on March 14, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi. Born on January 20, 1945, in Big Creek, she was a daughter to the late Francis Neal Schmitz and Jimmie Lee Rounsaville Schmitz.
Joyce was a 1963 graduate of Calhoun City High School and furthered her education by attending Memphis School of Beauty. She spent many years working for the cosmetic company Avon where she retired as the District Manager. Aside from her career in the beauty business Joyce was a former secretary at First Baptist Church of Bruce. In addition to life as a working mother and grandmother, she cherished her family and paid special attention to her children and grandchildren. With an ear for music and the skills to play Joyce loved making music on the piano. She found a church home within the body of believers at First Baptist Church of Bruce. Although Joyce has departed from our presence, she has gone to rest in a place free sickness and the pains of age.
She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence, one son, Ronald (Jackie) Carter of Bruce; one daughter, Christi McCormick of Bruce; one brother, Randy (Shirley) Schmitz of Bruce; five grandchildren: Clint McCormick, Cameron (Braeden Reynolds), Caylee McCormick, Kyle (Chelsea) Carter, and Claire Carter; four great grandchildren: Greyson McCormick, Bryson Armstrong, Payton Petty, and Jackson Carter; special friend, J.T. Turner of Bastesville.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Neal Schmitz and Jimmie Lee Rounsaville Schmitz; one infant brother, Larry Neal Schmitz.
