Joyce Ann Hughes

Joyce Ann Hughes of Bruce, MS, passed away at her home on July 15, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on June 3, 1950, in Houston, MS, Joyce was the daughter of Herman and Sarah Houston. Joyce lived a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family and friends.

Joyce was a proud graduate of Bruce High School, class of 1968, and she furthered her education by attending Northwest Community College for two years. She started her professional journey at Bruce Telephone Company before moving on to BancorpSouth, where she made lasting connections with colleagues and clients alike.

A devoted wife and mother, Joyce married her loving husband of 57 years, Jimmy Hughes, on May 9, 1969. Together, they shared a deep bond and unwavering support for one another throughout their marriage. Joyce and Jimmy loved to travel, often exploring the open road with their camper, creating cherished memories along the way. Joyce had an immense passion for life, and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren: Cameron, Hayden, Hoyt, Hunt, and Hart. They brought her joy and laughter, serving as the light in her life during both her happiest and toughest times.

Joyce's faith was an integral part of her life; she was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Bruce, where she found community and purpose. Despite facing significant health challenges over the years, Joyce remained a pillar of strength for her family, demonstrating extraordinary courage and grace through her struggles.

Joyce is survived by her adoring husband, Jimmy C. Hughes; her daughter, Alecia (Troy) Todd of Bruce, MS; her son, Brian Hughes of Bruce, MS; her sister, Faye (Gary) Massey of Oxford, MS; and five treasured grandchildren; Cameron Hughes, Hayden Todd, Hoyt Todd, Hunt Todd, and Hart Todd. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share cherished memories of Joyce's life. A funeral service will take place in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM with Dr. Ryan Reed officiating, burial will follow at Memory Memorial Garden in Bruce, MS. Serving as pallbearers are Cameron Hughes, Tony Ruth, Hayden Todd, Hoyt Todd, Hunt Todd, and Troy Todd.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Herman Alton Houston; mother, Sarah Alice Lafayette Houston; brother, Danny Houston; and a nephew, Heath Houston.
