Juanita Sims Collins passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at her home in Bruce while surrounded by her beloved family. Born on June 28, 1938 in Banner to James Edward Sims and Gladis Louberta Miller Sims, she was 80.

Juanita was a Bookkeeper for the Calhoun County Co-Op, retiring after 27 years of service. One of her greatest loves was providing for her family, with a special fondness for watching them enjoy her home-cooked meals. Her other hobbies included being a devout reader who enjoyed a good novel, along with taking care of her plants and flowers. In addition to immediate family, Juanita leaves behind her church family as a member of Westside Baptist Church in Bruce. In her 80 years with us, Juanita touched many lives and will be missed by all of them.

Jaunita leaves behind Sons, Joey Collins of Bruce and Bobby (Melissa) Collins, Jr. of Bruce; Daughters, Teresa (Mike) Winter of Pittsboro and Rhonda (Richard) Chrestman of Bruce; Sister, Jeanette Mayhan of Pittsboro; Grandchildren, Josh Stegall, Jonathan Stegall, Jody Stegall, Matthew McCormick, Kelci McCormick, Bradley Franklin, Brandon Franklin, Diana Jackson, Mike Collins, Joe Collins, Leanne Collins, Crystal Roberts, and Chasity Adams; and 23 Great-Grandchildren.

There will be a visitation with the family on Wednesday Evening, January 2, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A funeral service honoring Juanita’s life will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home, with services starting at 11:00 am. Brother Reece Ward and Brother David Haggerty will officiate services.

Following the funeral service, Juanita will be laid to rest in Mt. Comfort Cemetery. Serving the family as Pallbearers will be Joe Collins, Mike Collins, Bradley Franklin, Brandon Franklin, Matthew McCormick, Jonathan Stegall, Jody Stegall, and Josh Stegall. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Mata, Robert Mata, James Mayhan, Wayne Mayhan, Craig McCormick, and Lynn McCormick.
Juanita was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Bobby Lee Collins; Son, Richard Dale Collins; Daughter, Tammy Stegall; Brother, James Robert Sims; and Sister, Janie Parker.

Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce is honored to be entrusted by the family in helping to make arrangements honoring Juanita’s life.
