Karen Gilder Harrelson, 58, gained her heavenly wings, Saturday, July 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at N.M.M.C., Tupelo. She was born March 5, 1960 in Vardaman, to the late parents of William Jasper Gilder and Sharon Lowe Gilder. Karen was a graduate of Vardaman High School and Holmes Community College where she received her associates’ degree in nursing. She was a R.N. with Gilbert Home Health until her failing health declined and no longer permitted her to continue to work. She was a devoted nurse, homemaker, wife and mother. She was a Baptist and attended Vardaman First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her father-in-law, Bro. W. R. Harrelson.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Harrelson, Vardaman; daughter, Nicole Evans, Houston; sons, Jeff Harrelson, Vardaman, Will Harrelson, Vardaman; sisters, Wilka Gilder, Vardaman, Cheryl Gilder, Vardaman, Annelle Scott (Kenny), Vardaman; brother, William “Bill” Gilder, Vardaman; mother-in-law, Nell Harrelson, Pittsboro; sister-in-law’s, Laurie Hedrick (Joe), TX, Teresa Harrelson, Pittsboro; brother-in-law’s, Tim Harrelson, Sr., Pittsboro, Jeff Harrelson (Gail), TN, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Vardaman, with Bro. James Towery officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday prior to service.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Fugett, Tim Harrelson, Jr., Joe Hedrick, Jay Scott, Kenneth Scott, Jr., and Brandon Taylor.
