Katelin Elizabeth Grace Stone, age 10, of Big Creek overcame her battle with cancer and entered into the arms of Jesus on April 30, 2019, at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Katelin was a second grader in Mrs. Langford’s class at Calhoun City Elementary School. She was a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church in Calhoun City and also participated in Awana at Shiloh Baptist Church in Big Creek. Hunting and fishing with Hope Outdoors was one of her favorite pastimes, but even when she was outside being a country girl she made sure to look pretty and sparkle. She loved her “brothers and sisters” of Dream Riders Chapter H and was passionate about helping make a difference in the lives of others. Throughout her two and half year battle with cancer, her strength, perseverance, and courage was a light and inspiration to all around her. Katelin believed in the power of Jesus and wanted others to know the importance of prayer and the impact it had during her journey as she repeatedly defied the odds stacked against her.
Katelin was happiest when she was at home surrounded by her favorite people. She is survived by her parents, Cecil and Jessica Stone of Big Creek, as well as her siblings Savannah, Adrianna, Braylee, Hunter, and David. Maternal grandparents are Tony and Kelly Hughes of Cadaretta, MS and Teresa and John Rosa of Big Creek. Fraternal grandparents are Jesse and Bernice Stone of Derma, MS. A host of many other aunts, uncles, and cousins live on to share Katelin’s incredible story and her mighty accomplishments during her short number of years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 3, 2019 at Grace Fellowship Church, Calhoun City, MS with Dr. John Warren officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday May 2, 2019 from 6:00 until 9:00 at Grace Fellowship Church. Katelin will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery, Slate Springs. Pallbearers will be: Rob Easley, Rooster Gann, Josh Morgan, Andy Mulkey, Lynn Price and Robert Upchurch.
Katelin’s family would like to humbly thank Hope Outdoors and the Dream Riders for the time invested in Katelin and the wonderful memories made with her. A special thanks also to Encompass Health Hospice Services for the love and care they provided through such a challenging season. The Stone’s will forever be blessed by the tremendous outpouring of love from their church family as well as surrounding churches who have truly been the hands and feet of Jesus. Friends, family, and even strangers from the community have shown unbelievable generosity and compassion that will always be appreciated and never be forgotten.
Memorials can be made to the children’s fund at Grace Fellowship Church in Katelin’s honor.
