Listen to Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Scott,60, of Vardaman passed from this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at his home in Vardaman. Born on April 26, 1962, in Houston, Kenneth was the son of Kenny Scott and the late Laura Eaton Gann.

Kenneth was a man of integrity with a heart of compassion for people. These admirable traits could be evidenced by his career in law enforcement which spanned over twenty-nine years. During his career protecting and serving, Kenneth served as chief of the Vardaman Police Department. After ten years as the lead of Vardaman’s law enforcement, he retired from his role and joined the town’s maintenance department.  In addition to his career in law enforcement, this public servant worked at Trace Regional Hospital early in life before joining the Houston and Vardaman Fire Departments. When Kenneth wasn’t looking after the safety of others you could find him cheering Ole Miss Rebels or getting ready to head fishing or hunting when the season was right. He also loved loading up the car and striking out on road trips, especially south to historical Natchez. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.

Kenneth leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; his beloved wife, Annelle Gilder Scott of Vardaman; father, Kenny (Georgia) Scott of Houston; three sons: Brandon (Myra) Taylor of Horn Lake, Mississippi; Kenneth (Erica) Scott of Vardaman; Jay Scott of Vardaman; one daughter; Leslie (Nathan) Fugett of Vardaman; eight grandchildren: Brennen Taylor, Austin Taylor, Preston Taylor, Tate Scott, Kyleigh Scott, Laden Scott, Kazeleigh Scott, and Lyla Fugett.

He was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Scott; mother, Laura Eaton Gann; sister-in-law, Karen Gilder Harrelson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman.
