Larry Dale Blackwelder

Larry Dale Blackwelder, 78, passed away on March 21, 2024, in at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Larry was born on March 5, 1946, to the late Frank Blackwelder and Ora Lee Turner Blackwelder.

Larry served his country as a member of the National Guard. He was the Public Works Director for the city of Bruce for 21 years and also worked as a school bus driver.  He loved sports especially the Bruce Trojans and Mississippi State.  You could always find Larry with a cup of coffee in front of him at the coffee shop.

Larry is survived by his wife of 28 years Mary Cathy Blackwelder, of Pittsboro, MS; his son Allen (Carla) Blackwelder of Bruce, MS; stepdaughter Michelle (Keith) Gaskin of Pittsboro, MS; sisters: Glenda Fay Godfrey, of Longview, TX, and Jenille Stewart of Minden, LA; grandchildren: Bryce Blackwelder, Hayden McCostlin, Kayla (Brandon) Washington, Emily Gaskin, and Haley Gaskin.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ora Lee Blackwelder; brother Ham Blackwelder; sisters: Jackie Countiss, Frankie Haire, Jimmy Denley, Mary Lou Logan, and Helen Vanlandingham; and stepson Jason Holder.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A graveside service will begin at 2:00 PM at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Bruce, MS, with Bro. Kenneth Armstrong and Bro. Darrell Logan officiating.  Pallbearers will be: Stephen Box, Cade Clark, Dan Countiss, Mike Denley, Tracey McCammon, Hayden McCostlin, Freddy Stewart, and Charlie Vanlandingham. Honorary pallbearers will be the coffee shop crew.
