Larry Killough, born on August 1, 1942, in Pisgah, Mississippi, departed from this life on June 1, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. Larry grew up with a deep connection to his roots and a love for the land, which blossomed into a lifelong passion for farming and caring for cattle. His hands were not just calloused from labor; they were a testament to a life lived in service to family, community, and the natural world.
He devoted many years of his life as a line technician at Bruce Telephone Company, a career that exemplified his dedication to his work and his commitment to keeping the community connected. Known for his tenacity, Larry also spent time as a logger and engaged in truck maintenance, always willing to lend a hand and share his expertise with those around him.
Larry was a proud member of the Cooke Memorial Chapel, where he found not just spiritual companionship but also enriched relationships within his community. His faith anchored him and guided his actions throughout his life.
Larry is survived by his beloved spouse, Yvonne Killough; his children, Paula (J.J.) McVay of Pontotoc, MS, Chelsea (Vincient) Anderson of Pittsboro, MS, Gerald (Judy) Killough of Batesville, MS, Terry (Karen) Killough of Randolph, MS, Ryan (Carrie) Killough of Saltillo, MS. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren—Cambry McVay, Shanda McVay, Jerry Killough, Cierra Aston, Ellie Killough, and Justin Killough—as well as four great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Eddie (Dale) Killough of Randolph and Jimmy (Carolyn) Killough of Tupelo, who will carry forward his spirit and memory.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Killough, mother, Sarah Barry Killough, sisters, Berniece Ross, Nellie Doss, Inez Cartwright, and brothers, Russell Killough, and Walter Killough.
Family and friends will gather for a viewing at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce, MS on June 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service in Parker Memorial Funeral Home chapel on June 4, 2025, at 2:00 P.M with Bro. Wayne Cobb, Bro. Darrel Logan, Bro. Vincient Anderson, and Bro. J.J. McVay speaking. Interment will be in Sarepta Cemetery, Sarepta, MS.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Chrestman, David Austin, Shawn Brandon, Bram Mask, Jason Chrestman, Lee Chrestman, Kevin Collums, and Brandon Collums. Honorary Pallbearers are Leroy Chrestman, Donnie Hamblin, L.C. Austin, Tyrone Walls, Harry Culpepper.
As we celebrate Larry’s life, we remember a man whose love for his family, dedication to his work, and passion for the land will forever be etched in our hearts. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
