Larry Dean Massey, 72, of Oxford departed from this life on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at his home in Oxford, MS. He was born on March 16, 1950, in Bruce, MS to the late Hugh Dean Massey and Annie Vivian Bollinger Massey.

Larry Dean was a graduate of Bruce High School class of 1968. After graduating, Larry attended Mississippi State University and then went on to Auctioneering school in Bryan, TX. Larry Dean spent many years as a sales rep. for Kraft Foods until his retirement in 2012. He was the owner of L&G Cowboy Corner in Oxford, MS until its closing. Larry Dean also spent many seasons of life as an Auctioneer, auctioneering for Relay for Life, Ducks Unlimited, Bramlett Brush Strokes, and other various local fundraisers and organizations. He was also a livestock auctioneer at H.D. Massey and Sons Livestock Sales. Larry was a member of the Mississippi and National Auctioneers Association. Aside from working and auctioneering Larry Dean could be found in the great outdoors working with his cattle and horses, hunting, and fishing, working in his garden, and riding his motorcycle. Larry Dean enjoyed going to the beach and was an all-around animal lover. Larry Dean was a member North Oxford Baptist Church and was actively involved through missions cooking for groups and Wednesday night supper. He also enjoyed working with the Flying Elephants doing community service. Larry Dean never met a stranger and was a people person. Larry Dean will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.

He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; his wife of 52 years, Gail Armstrong Massey of Oxford, MS; one daughter, Alecia (Jason) Russell of Nesbit, MS; son, Dean (Christine) Massey of Oxford, MS; sister, Debbie (Andy) Buchanan of Holly Springs, MS; two brothers: Hugh Gary (Faye) Massey of Oxford, MS; John (Lauren) Massey of Oxford, MS; three grandchildren that he loved dearly: Massey Grace Russell, Emma Scott Russell, and Jonathan Dean Massey.

Larry Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Dean Massey and Annie Vivian Bollinger Massey.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at North Oxford Baptist Church. The funeral service celebrating Larry's life will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at North Oxford Baptist Church with Dr. John Mahony officiating. Mark Baker, Pat Baker, Joe Cowsert, Sam Larson, Will Larson, Gary Ledbetter, Larry McCay, and Benny Stewart will carry Larry Dean to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Jimmy Moore's Sunday School Class will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
