Larry Joe Starks

Larry Joe Starks, 77 of Pittsboro, died Friday, June 14, 2024, at Baptist Hospital-Calhoun.  He was born September 15, 1946, in Bruce to the late Rhesa Linsey Starks and Mary Lou Malone Starks.

Larry was retired from Weyerhaeuser serving for over 25 years in many different positions in the mill. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.  After retirement Larry enjoyed birdwatching, especially his purple martins, deer watching, just being in nature and the outdoors and bush hogging in his spare time.  He also loved to relax and enjoy his coffee.

He is preceded in death by his parents Rhesa Linsey and Mary Lou Starks; his wife Penny Starks; and son Scott Starks.

He is survived by his daughter Angela Parker, of Bruce; sister Margaret Ann (James) Hill, of Pittsboro; daughter-in-law Julie Starks, of Bruce; grandchildren: Heather (Stephen) Garcia, Taylor Castleberry, Karman Starks, and Connor Starks; and great grandchildren Maverick Garcia and Arizona Garcia.

Visitation will be Monday, June 17, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home.  A service honoring Larry's life will also be Monday, June 17, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Eric Payne officiating.  Burial will be in Pittsboro Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Dean Brummett, Eric Carr, Charlie Hill, Bill Malone, Matthew McCormick, and Harold Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Cowsert, Joel Gray, Ben Hogan, Glenn Lenard, and Cody Weeks.
