Bruce, MS-Linda Carol Smithson, 73, went into the arms of Jesus March 23, 2018 at N.M.M.C., Tupelo. She was born August 13, 1944 in Bruce, to her father the late Morris Elvis Dunn, Sr. and her birth mother Leila Mae Jenkins Dunn. She met William before graduating Bruce High School Class of 1962 and married the love of her life on November 22, 1962. She graduated cosmetology school at Nowthwest Mississippi Community College, where she later spent her career working at Brenda’s Hair Bender before her retirement. Linda Carol was a lady of many talents and her life was a testimony to her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a singer in the Good News Trio and sang at many churches and other events in North Mississippi. She served the Lord faithfully at Concord Baptist Church, where she was a member. Linda Carol took on many responsibilities at her church such as ministering to the needy, counseling, teaching and singing with her beautiful voice, lifting everyone’s spirit. She was an avid gardener. Linda Carol was a pet lover especially her cats. Her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family will miss her. Linda Carol loved making everyone feel good about themselves, she referred to us all as “precious”, in her eyes everyone is “precious “.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, William Boyd “Smitty” Smithson , Bruce; a daughter, Jeanine Ritchie (Chris), Bruce; two sons, William Keith “Smitty” Smithson, Bruce, Stephen Boyd Smithson, Olive Branch ; mother, Dessie Dunn, Bruce; three brothers, Morris Elvis Dunn, Jr. (Penny), Bruce , Jerry Morris Dunn (Debbie), Bruce, Thomas Lee Dunn (Teresa), Bruce; eight grandchildren, William Casey Smithson (Angelin), Ethan Cole Ritchie, Emily Jade Ritchie, Keri Leila Haire (Benji), Evan Jacob Smithson, Jenna Elizabeth Smithson, Vance Matthew Smithson, Trevor John Smithson; four great grandchildren, Layla Marie Smithson, James Braxton Haire, Chloe Leila Smithson and Jasey Reigh Smithson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ann Keeton and twin infants, Jeffanie and Janice Smithson.
Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Williamson and Bro. Junior Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Cory Brown, Thomas Dunn, Benji Haire, Ethan Cole Ritchie, Evan Jacob Smithson, Trevor John Smithson, Vance Matthew Smithson and William Casey Smithson.
