Lonnie Buford Patton, 76 of Pittsboro, Mississippi, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the
State Veterans Home in Oxford, Mississippi.
He was born Tuesday, January 25, 1938 in Banner, Mississippi, he was the son of Harold Patton and Ruby Joblin
Patton.
He was a member of Pittsboro First Baptist Church where he was a dedicated deacon for 43 years, serving as
chairman numerous times. He also served as Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Director of Discipleship Training.
He served his country in the Army National Guard for Six years, attaining the rank Sargent E-6. He served on active
duty during the Berlin Crisis. He retired from Kellwood Co. after 42 years of service, where he held numerous
management positions. During his work week years he traveled to several South and Central American Countries
where he met many friends that contributed to the work in the garment industry. He enjoyed spending time with his
family,church family and friends. To his family he was considered a strong and wise man, a man of integrity, a loving
husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. A man who made this world a better place to live.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nelda Harrelson Patton of Pittsboro, MS. One daughter, Melanie (John)
Bollinger of Calhoun City, MS, brother, George (Carol) Patton of Kosciusko, MS. Two grandchildren, Amanda
Bollinger and Jonathan Bollinger. Special niece and nephew, Jessi Stevenson and Timothy Parker. Sister-in-laws,
Margaret Patton, Nancy Patton, Martha (Quincy) Parker. Tilda Harrelson and Betty Harrelson. Six nieces and seven
nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Patton, Ernest Patton and Jimmy Patton, sister, Sarah Rasberry.
Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home in
Bruce, MS.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11 AM at Pittsboro First Baptist Church in Pittsboro, MS, with
Dr. Buford Usry and Bro. Randy Futral officiating.
Interment will be in Pittsboro Cemetery, Pittsboro, MS.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Bollinger, Kenneth P. Harrelson, Timothy Parker, Barry Patton, Jeff Patton, Tommy Patton, and Chris Stevenson. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Deacons of Pittsboro First Baptist Church.
