Lyda Weeks

Lyda Faye Brown Weeks, 89, of Bruce passed from this life on Janurary 22, 2020 at Bruce Community Living Center. Lyda Faye entered into the world on March 7, 1930 and was born to Leroy Brown and Alma Eliza Bailey.

Lyda Faye was employed with the Kellwood Company for a number of years before retiring and becoming a homemaker. She dearly loved working outdoors tending to the Lord’s elegant creations.  Always striving for perfection, Lyda Faye took great pride in cultivating a magnificent display of flowers. She had a deep love for her family, but her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Lyda Faye was an active member of Mt.Moriah Baptist Church. She entered into an eternity of rest because she placed her salvation in the Lord.

Lyda Faye leaves behind a loving family to carry her precious memory; daughter, Kathy (Dean) Poynor of Bruce; sister, Ruby Green; grandchildren, Kyle (Courtney) Poynor and Dalton Poynor; great grandchild, Lane Poynor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Weeks; parents, Leroy Brown and Alma Eliza Bailey; infant daughter, Peggy Faye Weeks; brothers, Edward Brown, Freddie Brown, R.B. Brown, Leo Brown, and Theo Brown.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 12:00-3:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. A funeral service remembering Lyda Faye’s life will take place Friday, January 24, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Bro. Joey Hamilton and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Michael Lee Brown, Rodney Brown, Michael Cook, Larry Embry, Thomas Earl Goodson, Scott Ledbetter, Rick Martin, and Scott Tims will serve as pallbearers. Interment will take place in Mt.Moriah Cemetery.
