Maida Carolyn Owens, 72, passed away, Sunday January 7, 2018 at her home in Reagan, Tennessee after an extended illness. She was born October 2, 1945 in Calhoun County to the late Vernon L. Newman and Leslie Estelle Bullard Newman. She was a devoted homemaker, a garment, a auto factory worker and previous owner of Tasty Freeze Drive In. She was a Christian lady and was a member of Scotts Hill Baptist Church, Scotts Hill, TN.
She was preceded in the death by her parents, her husband, Willie Lee Owens, three sisters, Irma Jewel Broadus, Eva Mae Murphree and Eula Coleman, two brothers, Raymond Newman and Thomas Newman, a grandchild, Wesley Partington.
Survivors include, two daughters, Ramona Owens, Jacksonville, FL and Becky Cobb “Bob”, Dyersburg, TN, two sons, Tony Owens, Reagan, TN, and Mike Caruso “Nancy”, Chicago, Il, two sisters, Margaret Adams Browning, Houston, MS and Mary Morris “Thomas Lee”, Bruce, MS, three brothers, Ralph Newman “Opal” Paris, MS, William Newman “Sandra” locust Fork, Al, and David Newman “Bernice”, Laurel, MS, three sister-in-laws, Vannie Ree Parker, Derma, MS, Erma Shankle, Derma, MS, and Betty Haimes “Jerry”, Houston, MS, five grandchildren, Ashley Cobb Hyatt, Caleb Cobb, Michael Caruso, Matthew Caruso and Marissa Caruso and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman from 12:00 P.M. till service time at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jon Haimes and Bro. Paul Morris officiating, Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Kenny Adams, Sid Knight, Marvin Morris, Barry Shankle, Dave Shankle, and Stacey Shankle.
