Margie Howell Grist, 87, of Bruce departed from this life on Thursday, September 09, 2021, at Bruce Community Living Center. Born on November 25, 1933, in Bruce, she was a daughter to the late Winfred Alvin Howell and Pamela Virginia Lee Howell.
Margie, a Bruce High School graduate, was best known for her skills on the basketball court where she served as the team captain. She spent many years married to her late husband Joe Grist until his passing in 1999. Margie found joy in looking after her home; from keeping an immaculate yard to a neat and tidy interior. Aside from keeping things in their place, Margie knew her way around the kitchen and loved cooking. When she preferred a more leisure activity she could found stitching the details into a quilt. Although she has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness and pains of age, Margie will be profoundly missed by her family. Margie did not simply depart from this life; she held the cure to death in her soul, an active relationship with her Savior worshiping Him at First Baptist Church Bruce.
She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking the path of life in her absence: one son Nelson Louis Grist (Bethany) of Bruce; one brother James Ralph Howell of Big Creek; two sisters: Virginia Howell of Olive Branch; and Patricia Ann Howell of Coffeeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Grist; parents Winfred Alvin Howell and Pamela Virginia Lee Howell; one grandson Cavan Louis Grist; three brothers: Carl Howell, Billy Howell, and Bobby Howell; three sisters: Wanda Brower, Martha Elizabeth Spears, and Lou Nell Massey.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service remembering her life will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Chad Clark, Mark Ferguson, Jeff Ferguson, Mike Jones, Don McCummin, and Kenneth Winter will carry Margie to rest in Sarepta Cemetery.
The Staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the family as they begin this new season of life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
