Marie Cantrell Hurst, 92 died on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City,
Mississippi.
Born Sunday, October 15, 1922,in Ecru, MS. she was the daughter of the late Jesse Roy Cantrell and Sarah Jane Parker
Cantrell. She was the wife of the late Ottis Paul Hurst.
She was a LPN Nurse for 43 years and had been employed by Graceland Nursing Home and the Bruce Hospital.
She was a member of Bruce First Baptist.
Surviving are son, Paul Wayne (Debbye) Hurst of Bruce, MS, daughter, Carroll Jean (Herman) Austin of Pontotoc,
MS, Six grandchildren, Danny Allredge (Phyllis) of Pelham, Al., Christi Austin Cowsert (Gary) of Pontotoc, MS.,
Hope Hurst Blanton (Glen) of Madison, MS., Aleshia Austin (Mark)McCord of Pontotoc, MS., Amber Hurst Phelan
(Mike) of Germantown, TN., and Alex Hurst Freeman (Whit) of Bruce, MS. Seventeen great-grandchildren, two great
-great grandchildren. Daughter-in-law, Wanda Hurst of Pelham, AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, William Ottis Hurst, sister, Pearl Jordon. and
brothers, Marrin Cantrell and Sonny Cantrell.
A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with
the Bro. Darrell Logan officiating. Interment will be in Memory Memorial Garden, Bruce, MS. Pallbearers will be
Glenn Blanton, Gary Cowsert, Whit Freeman, Mark McCord, Mike Phelan, Tommy Roane, and John Snellings.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Parker Memorial
Funeral Home, Bruce, Mississippi.
