Marjorie Clark Logan Smith, 86, of the Pleasant Ridge Community, died on January 11, 2016. She died peacefully at the Bruce Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past four years while battling both Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s. Marjorie was the daughter of the late Middleton (Mid) and Mary Lou Clark. She spent most of her life in the Pleasant Ridge Community where she was an active member of the Sarepta Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir and treating fellow church members with her famous coconut cake and homemade candies. Marjorie worked in the garment industry for forty years. After retirement, she spent summer days gardening and canning vegetables. During the winter months, she cut quilt patterns and hand stitched quilts for loved ones. The lost art of hand quilting was her favorite past time. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Logan and Thomas Smith and by her only child, Billy Joe Logan. Marjorie is survived by her granddaughters, Angela Logan and Emily Logan Martin (Jason), her great-granddaughter, Allie Dee Martin; her daughter-in-law Jeannie Spradling Logan; her sister, Amy Jo Riley; her sisters-in-law, Bennie Rodgers (Charles), Martha Rodgers, Lucille Lafaette, Clara Mae Beckett and Erma Bryant; Tom’s daughter and granddaughter, Sandy Wright and SaDeana Wright, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Bruce Community Living Center for the love, support and care they provided. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 12th from 12 PM until the service at 2 PM at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Douglas Ferguson, Joe Ferguson, Gordie Haire, Jason Martin, J.D. McCormick, Lynn Murphree, Charles Riley, and Charlie Spradling.
