Martha Gail Gordon, a beloved member of the Vardaman community, passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 16, 1946, in Vardaman, Mississippi, Martha lived her life with an infectious spirit of warmth and kindness that touched all who knew her.
Martha was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Her joyful smile and welcoming nature drew people to her, and she cherished every conversation, connecting with others through love and generosity.
In her free time, Martha enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in coloring and immersing herself in word search puzzles. These activities were not just hobbies, but reflections of her creative spirit and her love for engaging her mind.
Martha is survived by her devoted family, including her daughter Gail Haire and son-in-law Keith of Vardaman, MS; her sons Ernie Gordon and his wife Charlene of Bruce, MS, Mitchell Gordon and his wife Toni of Yukon, OK, and Bobby Jame Phillips of Bruce, MS; her sister Margaret Walls of Ft. Payne, AL; and her cherished grandchildren: Lisa Colburn, Ashley Boyd, Tara Dimmitt, Christian Gordon, Dalton Gordon, Corbin Gordon, Britten Haire, Abby Tilley, Briley Gordon, Bradley Gordon, Bethany Gordon, and Savannah Moorehead, and Kenzie Haire, along with ten great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit forward into the world.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, Roy Mitchell, mother, Mickey Roberts Mitchell, and a brother, Mike Mitchell.
Visitation will be held at Midway Baptist Church on April 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jerry Smith and Bro. Clay Broyles officiating. Martha will be laid to rest in Midway Cemetery. Timmy Broyles, Bradley Gordon, Briley Gordon, Britten Haire, Deane Tilley, and Kenneth Haire will be serving as pallbeaerers.
Martha Gail Gordon leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit. She will be deeply missed, and fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her. The world is a little less bright without her, but the impact she made on the lives she touched will shine on.
