Martha Jean Rogers

Martha Jean Logan Rogers, 82, passed away on October 2, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford, MS, surrounded by her loved ones.

Martha was born on February 7, 1939, in the Rocky Mount Community, one of ten children born to Jim Enoch Logan and Eunice Burt Logan. Martha married William Rogers and to this union one son was born.

She started her career as a supervisor at Glenn Slacks until its closing. She also worked many years at United Chair as a seamstress until her retirement. But Martha did not stop working, her next career would be the delivery lady for Connie's Flowers where she remained until her passing. When Martha was not at work she enjoyed being in the great outdoors camping, fishing and loved to attend Nascar Races. She also spent many hours working in her garden and sharing the bounty of her vegetables with friends. Martha loved making and sharing Christmas candy with friends and family. Martha was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church.

Martha is survived by her niece and caregiver Connie Rogers of Bruce, MS; sisters Erma Bryant of Bruce, MS; and Lucille Lafayette of Calhoun City, MS; adopted sons Tom (Shannon) Peterson of Deland, FL; and John (Cheyenne) Moore of Vardaman, MS; adopted grandchildren Johnna Moore of Vardaman, MS; Tommy Wayne Peterson of Deland, FL; and Waylon Peterson of Deland, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband William Rogers; her parents Jim and Eunice Logan; son Roy Lynn Rogers; daughter-in-law Tammy Rogers; sisters: Clara Mae Beckett; Evelyn Earp; Myrtice Langley; and Bennie Rogers; brothers: Bill Logan; Glenn Logan; and Sonny Logan.

Visitation for Martha will be Wednesday, October 6, 2021, from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The service will begin at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Sam Yarbrough and Dr. J. R. Eaton officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Luke Andrews, Phillip Fowler, John Moore, Tom Peterson, Carlon Stone, and Les Thomas. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
