Mary Ethel Baker, 93 of Bruce, passed away on October 12, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City. Born on February 27, 1931, in Calhoun County Mississippi, Mary dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a registered nurse. She received her Associate's Degree from North West Mississippi Community College and served the community at Calhoun County Hospital before dedicating thirty years of service at the North Mississippi Regional Center.
A graduate of Bruce High School, Mary was known for her kind and compassionate nature, touching the lives of countless patients and colleagues throughout her nursing career. Beyond her professional life, she was a devoted member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, where she shared her faith by teaching G.A.'s and leading bible drills. Her commitment to serving others extended globally as she embarked on mission trips to Mexico and Honduras, making a positive impact on those in need alongside her dear friend, Wayne Fleming.
Mary is survived by her sons, Andy (Lynn) Baker of Athens TN, and Mark (Carol) Baker of Bruce, MS, grandchildren Corey Baker, Stephen Baker, Brandon Baker, Nolan Baker, Halen Baker, and great-grandchildren Drew Baker, Dean Baker, Mason Baker, Maverick Baker, Bentley Baker, Maxx Baker, Daniel Lino, Anthony Lino, Tyler Lino, and Alexus Lino. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Public Viewing in memory of Mary will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home on October 13, 2024, at 5:00 pm unitl 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will take place at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on October 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm with Bro. Darrell Logan and Bro Chris Caviness officiating. Mary will be laid to rest following the service at Bruce Cemetery, Bentley Baker, Brandon Baker, Corey Baker, Halon Baker, Mason Baker, Nolan Baker, and Stephen Baker will serve as Pallbearers.
Mary was preceded in death by a grandchild, Braden Baker, husband, James Stanton Baker, brother, Jim Schoggin, sister, Dorothy Schoggin, father, Roy Miles Schoggin, mother, Viola Snellings Schoggin.
