Mary Shannon Bryan, 90, passed away on September 29, 2021, at her daughter's home in Southaven, MS.
Mary was born on October 3, 1930, in Pittsboro, MS, to Percy and Willie Shannon. She was a 1949 graduate of Pittsboro High School. She married her beloved husband Paul Ross Bryan Sr. , in 1950 while working at the Peabody Hotel.
Mary worked for many years at the University of Memphis in the married student housing department until her retirement. Mary was a member of the north congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bartlett, TN, where she was very active until she moved in with her daughter in Southaven. Mary loved music and the piano. She also loved to shop especially for shoes. Those who knew Mary could quickly discern that her family was a source of deep joy and comfort. She gave the world a smile and left indelible mark on all those who knew her.
Mary is survived by daughters: Sharon Annette Bryan (James L.) Bennett of Southaven, MS, and Mary Kathryn Bryan (Charles) Day of Wells, ME, sons: Paul Ross (Sandra) Bryan Jr. of Bartlett, TN, and Jimmy Shannon (Cindy) Bryan of Friendswood, TX; grandchildren: Kevin Bryan, Shannon Stidham, Cheryl Martin,Kimberley Mathew, Crystal Pritchett, Charlie Day, Jonathan Bryan, Wesley Day, and David Bennett; and 11 great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years Paul Ross Bryan Sr., her parents Percy and Willie Shannon; sister Stina Anderson; brothers: Boyce Shannon, Dale Shannon, and P. C. Shannon and beloved grandson Matthew Bryan.
Visitation for Mary will be Monday, October 11, 2021, from 10:00 AM until service time at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. A graveside service for Mary will be at 12:00 PM at Pittsboro Cemetery on Monday, October 11, 2021, with Floyd Clifton officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons Kevin Bryan, Charlie Day, Jonathan Bryan, Wesley Day, David Bennett, and great-grandson Brody Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Mathew, Jason Pritchett, Bryan Stidham, and Logan Stidham.
