Mary Ethel Holder

Mary Ethel Holder, 89, of Vardaman, MS passed away on May 25, 2024, at Bruce Community Living Center in Bruce, MS.

Mary retired from Washington Furniture and spend many years working in the sweet potato fields. She loved working with her flowers, gardening, and worshiping with her church family at New Hope Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by a daughter Lisa (Ronnie) Williams of Vardaman, MS; son Doug (Vickey) Holder of Vardaman, MS; seven grandchildren: Brandy Holder, Brittany (Johnathan) Austin, James (Yolonda) Tharp, Roy Tharp, Brittney (Will) Allen, Dale (Jackie) Williams, and Alice Bagwell; and thirteen grandchildren: Bryson Holder, Rylan Austin, Alaina Austin, Gavin Austin, Destiny Tharp, Preston Tharp, Brooke Tharp, Makon Edwards, Marleigh Tharp, William Allen, Thomas Allen, Christain McGregor, and Amber McGregor.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents: Robert Awtrey and  Algie Knox Awtrey;  husband Max Lee Holder, Jr.;  daughter Donna Rose Holder; and  brother Homer Lee Awtrey.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS, and on Tuesday May 28, 2024, from 11:00 AM until service time.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. J. R. Eaton and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman, MS. Serving as pallbearers are: Johnathan Austin, Will Allen, Makon Edwards, Bryson Holder, James Tharp, and Dale Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be: Curtis Bray, John Bray and Roy Tharp.
