Mary Lou Whitten

Mary Lou Whitten, 87 of Calhoun City, Mississippi died on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Calhoun in Calhoun City, Mississippi.

Born Friday, May 30, 1930 in Seattle, Washington. She was the wife of the late S. Ray Whitten.

She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Jackson, MS. and attended Bruce United Methodist Church. Mary retired from the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS where she worked for over 39 years in the administration office. After her retirement she enjoyed reading and spending time at the library.

Surviving are two sons, Steve (Samantha) Whitten of Pittsboro, MS and Thomas (Shelia) Whitten of Ocean Springs, MS,a brother, Thomas Gilbert Ritchey of Grants Pass, OR, two sisters, Susan Ritchey LaPoint of Hartsburg, CA and Judy Ritchey Summers of Paso Robles, CA, two grandchildren  Elizabeth Whitten and Steven Whitten. A step grandchild Brittany Gray West and a grandchildren are Maebry Tate Whitten  and one step great grandchild Nathan Gray West.

She was preceded in death by her parents the late Gilbert Thomas Ritchey and Edith Richardson Ritchey.

Her funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday at Bruce United Methodist Church with the Bro. Rex Wilburn officiating. Pallbearers will be Chase Clark, Robert Sutherland, Dan West and Stephen Whitten.

Interment will be in Memory Memorial Garden, Bruce, MS.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Bruce United Methodist Church.
