Mattie Virginia Vanlandingham, 94, passed away on January 31, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford, MS.
Virginia was born on October 26, 1929, in Yalobusha County to Raymond and Cora McKibben. She graduated from Ellard High School in 1946. She held many jobs in her life from working at Glenn Slacks Garment Factory, Fred's Dollar Store, Kwiky Food Mart and that of a homemaker. She loved nature and the outdoors as evidenced by the time she spent working in her yard and garden and farming. She could often be found riding her 4 -wheeler or driving her tractor. She was a member of Old Field Methodist Church.
Virginia is survived by nephews: Scott McKibben, of Oxford, MS; Gary (Pat) McKibben, of Hernando, MS; Terrence (Melinda) McKibben, of Prattville, Al; and Phillip (Melinda) McKibben of Chattanooga, TN; nieces: Diane (Jerry) Byars of Pass Christian, MS; Lynn (Keith) Thacker of Pittsboro, MS; and Denise LeBlanc of Houma, LA; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Odie B Vanlaningham; her parents Raymond and Cora McKibben; brothers: Clinton McKibben and Ralph McKibben.
A visitation for Virginia Vanlandingham will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:30 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The service will begin at 2:30 PM in the chapel with Bro. Jeff Vanlandingham officiating and Bro. Craig McCormick assisting. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Cain, Jordan Cain, Jeremy Harris, Ryan Jenkins, Taylor McKibben, and Chris Shelton. Burial will follow at Rapers Chapel Cemetery.
