Mattye Collins Ruth passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 in Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley. She was born February 25, 1930 at Ellard, MS the daughter of Elmer L. and Nannie S. Collins.
Mattye is survived by her son, Euphus Dwight Ruth, Jr. "Butch"; daughter, Deborah Ruth Cain, son-in-law, Jerry Cain; grandsons: Jeremy Cain (Ashley), Joshua Cain (Andre'), Jordan Cain (Taryn), Cody Ruth (Caroline) and Casey Ruth (Kelly). Great grandchildren: Cayla Cain, Alora Cain, Owen Cain, Scarlett Ruth, Blakeley Cain and Charlie Ruth. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Collins Peaks (Bob), two brothers, Scott Collins (Reeda) and Vernon Collins and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Dwight Ruth, her parents Elmer and Nannie Collins, brothers, Elmer Collins, Jr., Noel Collins, Jesse Collins and Boyd Collins; and her sister, Jeanette Collins Anderson.
Mattye was an active member of First Baptist Church, Bruce, MS. She was a graduate of Ellard High School, Holmes Junior College and The University of Mississippi with a B.S. in banking and finance. While a student at Holmes Junior College she was honored in the Hall of Fame as an outstanding, all star basketball player. Mattye retired in 1995 as Vice President of BanCorp South, Bruce with 40 years of banking service. She was an honorary member of the Twentieth Century Club as well as a charter member of the Loosa Schoona Chapter of The Daughters Of American Revolution .
Mattye loved her family and cherished time spent with her children and their families. She leaves loving memories to be treasured by her family with knowledge that they were loved more than words can express.
Services will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 1:00P.M. . With visitation to be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. prior to the service on Tuesday. Bro. Darrell Logan will be officiating in the service. Burial to follow in Bruce Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Cain, Owen Cain, Joshua Cain, Jordan Cain, Cody Ruth and Casey Ruth.
Honorary pallbearers: Scott Collins and Vernon Collins.
