Maurice Cowsert

Maurice Cowsert, 89 of Bruce, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Bruce Community Living Center in Bruce, Mississippi.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, 476 hwy 9n, Bruce, Mississippi.

The Funeral Ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating Bro. Jeff Flake and Bro. Danny Washington assisting. Burial will be in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Pittsboro, MS. Pallbearers will be: Jason Austin, Josh Berry, Scott Cannon, Brad Cowsert, Shane Cowsert, Stacy Cowsert, Richard Galloway, Jeff Lamb, and Donovan Randolph.

Maurice was born Wednesday, June 29, 1927 in Bruce, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Lem Cowsert and the late Lenner Bea Ritchie Cowsert. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth Burt Cowsert of Bruce, MS. sons, Jerry Cowsert of Randolph, MS, Donald (Becky) Cowsert of Falkner, MS and Ricky (Cindy) Cowsert of Bruce, MS, daughters, Becky (Donnie) Coats of Houlka, MS and Patricia (Roy) Hughes of Bruce, MS, brothers, L.D. Cowsert of Randolph, MS, Duke Cowsert of Randolph, MS and Charles Cowsert of Randolph, MS; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother, Jim Cowsert, sister, Lucille Patterson.

Maurice was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Pittsboro, and retired self-employed upholsterer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
