Meda Millican Marr, 71, of Olive Branch, passed away on June 2, 2018 in Olive Branch. Meda was born August 19th, 1946 to Billie Easter Millican and Meda Enolia Paseur in Ripley, Mississippi. Meda Marr grew up working in her family's grocery store in Maywood, MS. The strong work ethic she learned there led her to manage offices for several companies in the Memphis area.
Through the years, Meda opened her home to those in need and provided comfort, counsel or a hot meal. In the Summer, her backyard was filled with grandchildren swimming, playing and making joyful noise.
Meda loved the fellowship of her church family as well. The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, which Meda referred to as "The Little Church On The Hill", provided the spiritual compass to her life. She was a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King, whose motto served as Meda's mission: "For His Sake, I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do. Lord, what will you have me do"?
Meda leaves behind her Husband, William G. "Jackie" Marr, Jr. of Olive Branch; Sons William G. "Gil" Marr, III (Layne) of Collierville and Michael Finn (Janna) of Colorado; Daughters Darlene Stanley and Jackie Shaffer of Olive Branch; Sister Louise (Bays) Shackleford of Olive Branch; 14 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and Cherished Friends.
A visitation with the family will be held Thursday, June 7th, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Olive Branch. A Requiem Mass will be held immediately after visitation in the church Nave to celebrate Meda's life.
Meda was preceded in death by her parents; Brothers Bill Millican and Kyle Millican; and Son-in-Law Richard Stanley.
In lieu of flowers, Meda's family has requested that memorials be made in her honor to The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Olive Branch, Mississippi and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
