Listen to Obituary

Mikel Shoemaker, 60, of Calhoun City passed from this life on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Calhoun City. Born on November 9, 1960, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Mikel was a son to Thelma Tutor Liles and the late James Oliver Shoemaker.

Mikel, better known to his friends and loved ones as "Waddles", graduated from D’Iberville High School in 1979. With a vast knowledge and education of all that is current and circuit, Waddles found a lifelong career as a start specialist for electrical operations. Waddles had a strong affection for the great outdoors, a place where he indulged in his favorite hobbies. On cold mornings, when he was up to brave the elements, Waddles could be found eagerly awaiting ducks in hopes of a good hunt. He could also be found far from the waters edge when deer where in season patiently awaiting a white tail. In contrast to the active hunting lifestyle, Waddles found rest and relaxation in the activities surrounding camping. Although Waddles has finished the race that was set before him, his memory will continue to dwell within the hearts of his loved ones.

Those near to Waddles that must continue down the path of life in his absence include:  loving wife Carol Shoemaker of Calhoun City, Mississippi, mother  Thelma Liles of Bruce, Mississippi, stepmother Alice Shoemaker of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, one brother James (Alvina) Shoemaker of Banner, Mississippi, and one sister Delores Suarey of Ocean Springs, Mississippi

Waddles was preceded in death by his father James Shoemaker, paternal grandparents Tony and Mary Shoemaker, and maternal grandparents Jimmie and Artis Tutor.

The memorial service celebrating Waddles’s life will take place on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 6:00 PM in the Chapel at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce.
