Minnie Louvina Doss Franklin, 92, of Pittsboro passed from this life on August 16, 2021, at her home in Pittsboro. Born on June 5, 1929, in Chickasaw County, she was a daughter to the late James Jackson Doss and Essie Lula McDowell Doss.
Minnie was a dedicated member of Pittsboro First Baptist Church. She was not just a member of the church she was actively a servant to the body of Christ. She was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union and a volunteer for Girls in Action. Aside from her life at church, Minnie cherished her grandchildren and simply found joy in their presence. She also found joy in not only cooking but also tending to her garden. Though she has gone to rest in a sacred place free from sickness and pains of age, Minnie will be profoundly missed by her loving family.
Minnie leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of the life two sons: James William Franklin (Winona) of Pittsboro and Heath Doss (DeeAnn) Franklin of Pittsboro; five grandchildren: Gayle Douglas (Lisa) Bullard Jr, Emily Jayne Bullard, Mary Elizabeth (P.K.) Edmondson, Hunter William Bryant, and Devin James (Melissa) Bryant; two brothers: James Raymond Doss of Grenada and Thomas Steve Doss of Java, Virginia; one sister Barbara Ann Morris of Randolph; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James William Franklin Sr; her parents James Jackson Doss and Essie Lula McDowell Doss; daughter Reda Ann Bullard; son-in-law Gayle Bullard; brother William Walker “Pete” Doss; and five sisters: Tula Vance, Ethelene Thomas, Geneva McCcafferty, Sara Nickels, and Jimmie Pendergrass.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the sanctuary of Pittsboro First Baptist Church. The funeral service remembering Minnie’s life will take place on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 4:00 PM in the sanctuary of Pittsboro First Baptist Church with Bro. Vincent Anderson officiating. Devin Bryant, Hunter Bryant, Douglas Bullard, Jeremy Criddle, Eli Edmondson, PK Edmondson, Reed Gregory, Bill Malone, and Lenny McGregor will carry her to rest in Pittsboro Cemetery.
