Monette Gann, a beloved member of the Vardaman community, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 2, 1940, in Vardaman, Mississippi, Monette spent her life surrounded by family, friends, and the joys of her cherished community.
Monette dedicated her career to the judicial system, serving as a court administrator under the esteemed Judge Henry Lackey and Judge Andrew Howorth for 36 years. Her years of service were marked by professionalism and a commitment to justice, touching the lives of many within the community she loved.
Monette was a devoted member of the Vardaman First Baptist Church, finding joy and fellowship in her Sunday School class. A true lover of life's simple pleasures, she enjoyed spending time in her yard, and watching Hallmark movies. She treasured her Saturday lunch dates with her friends Jennie Trott and Sarah Walton, always looking forward to those moments of laughter and companionship.
Family was everything to Monette. She cherished attending her nephew Micah's games and supporting her niece Chandler during cheerleading events. Her bond with her sister Frances was particularly special, as they shared many delightful meals together, deepening their connection through years of shared experiences and memories.
Monette is survived by her loving family, including her sister Frances Simmons of Vardaman, MS, nieces Dayka Briscoe, Kara (Ben) Barbee, Cassie Williams, and nephews James Swanson and J.P. Williams. Her loss is felt deeply by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever remain in their hearts.
Monette was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Gann, father, James Hicks, mother, Myrtis Mitchell Hicks, sister, Sarah Swanson, and a niece, Angela Williams.
The family invites all who knew and loved Monette to join them in honoring her life. A public viewing will be held at Parker Memorial Funeral Home on November 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service in the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 PM with Bro Gary Perminter And Bro. Whitt Casey officiating. Monette will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery. Ben Barbee, Matthew Brisco, Glenn Gann, Jerry Hamilton, Tim Hicks, Kevin Lackey, and Kevin Stafford will be serving as pallbearers.
In these moments of reflection, we celebrate a remarkable woman whose kindness, dedication, and love influenced many. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will always be remembered.
