Myra Delle Griffin Shields

Myra Delle Griffin Shields, 96, of Coffeeville entered into rest at Yalobusha County Nursing Home on Saturday, July 20, 2019. She was born in Chickasaw County on September 28, 1922 to the late Clarence Mathis and Dewy May Hathcock Griffin.

Myra worked faithfully at the Kellwood Company for numerous years before deciding to retire and get the most out of life. Retirement didn’t last long for Ms. Shields, as she spent most of her days setting stitches on a quilt, or out in the garden tending  to her plants. Myra had a special eye for yellow roses which she grew and spent several hours admiring.  She had a special place reserved in heaven because she trusted Jesus Christ as her savior, and worshiped him at Elam Baptist Church.

Myra leaves an expansive family to carry her memory. Surviving are sons, William Douglas Shields (Marie) of Coffeeville, MS and Lucian Eldridge Shields, Jr. (Kay) of Florence, MS, daughters, Lynn Moore of Houston, MS and Lena Robertson (Reps) of Navarre, FL, brother, Curtis Griffin of Spanish Fort, AL; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; Numerous great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Lucian E. Shields, Sr., a daughter, Frances Reaves, six brothers, and three sisters.

A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday at Elam Baptist Church with Bro. David Poynor and Bro. Craig Baker officiating. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery in Bruce, MS.  Pallbearers are Joshua Martin, David Moore, Harold Reaves, Jr. Justin Shields, Todd Shields, Tony Shields will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers are; Shane Griffith, Bryan McCullough, David Shamoon Reaves Shamoon

Corbin Shields The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Elam Baptist Church in Coffeeville, Mississippi.
