Nina Sue Bryant Watts, 68, of Pittsboro made her final bargain on June 19, 2021, at her home in the Oldtown community. July 21, 1952, marked a moment in history, the late Thomas Milton Bryant and Lila Kate James Bryant welcomed the fourth of their five children, Nina, into this world.
After graduating high school, Nina continued her education at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Her studies quickly changed as she caught the eye of a gentleman by the name of Thomas (Tommy) Michael Watts. The couple tied the knot on November 22, 1972, at Oldtown Baptist Church. During their marriage that spanned over forty-eight years, Tommy and Nina gave life to two children, three grandchildren and many priceless memories.
Nina began her working career at Bruce Supermarket then Cole Jewelry and later the Calhoun County Tax Assessor’s Office. But using her knack for sales Nina moved on to Cornerstone Automotive and eventually selling vegetables for her brother, Steve, and the late Eddie Bailey at local farmer’s markets. Nina could also be found holding yard sales in various places around the county. Some even commented that Nina had the ability to “sell ice to an Eskimo”, but really, she just enjoyed the interactions with people. Like a true southern woman, she loved sports including baseball, basketball, and especially football. However, she became a fanatic when her grandchildren stepped up to the plate. Nina was a tried and true Ole Miss Rebel fan that would not be caught in those tacky maroon and white colors. She was actively involved in her community and living a life founded on Christ. Nina not only worshiped at Oldtown Baptist Church, but she also taught Sunday School and braved Vacation Bible School every year. She liked to cook and could often be found delivering meals to those in her community.
Nina leaves behind a loving family to negotiate their own deals: husband, Tommy Watts of Pittsboro, MS; one son Pepper Watts of Pittsboro, MS; one daughter Pansye (Carey) McMillian of Hot Springs, AR; three grandchildren: Lexie Kirby, Lane Thomas Watts, and Katie Watts; one brother Steve (Kathryn) Bryant of Pittsboro, MS; and two sisters: Judy Bryant (Chet) Sisk of Germantown, TN; and Karen Bryant of Pittsboro, MS.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Kate Bryant and one brother Danny Joel Bryant.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 21, 2021, from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service remembering Nina's life will take place on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Harmon, Bro. Darrell Logan, and Bro. David Bishop officiating. Carlton Baker, Benny Bryant, Richard Bryant, Dillon Clark, Cody Clements, Bro. Shane Crawford, Michael King, Tommy King, Bryan Sisk, and Cody Weeks will carry Nina to rest in Oldtown Cemetery.
