Noel Collins, 90, departed this life on October 17, 2022, at Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford, MS, surrounded by his family. He was born in Calhoun County, MS on June 19, 1932, the son of Elmer and Nannie Smith Collins.
He went to work for Bruce Flooring Company immediately after graduating from Ellard High School in 1950 and continued working in the lumber business until his retirement in 1997 from Memphis Hardwood Flooring Company, Bruce, MS as plant manager.
Noel served in the Armed Services from1957-1959. He was stationed in Fluda, West Germany where he was a Morse Code radio operator on the Communist border.
Noel was an avid sports fan, especially for Ole Miss, and he attended several games with his son Stephen. He was a member of Ellard Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Nannie Collins and three brothers: Elmer Jr. Collins, Boyd Collins, and Jesse Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Fick Collins, Bruce, MS; Son Stephen (Jennifer) Collins, Olive Branch, MS; daughter Martha (W.V.) Hutchinson, Columbus, MS; brothers Scott (Reeda) Collins, Bruce, MS and Vernon Collins, Corinth, MS; sisters Jeanette Anderson, Memphis, TN; Mattye Ruth, Bruce, MS; and Betty (Bob) Peaks, Gulfport, MS; grandchildren: Ethan Collins, Olive Branch, MS; Ian Collins, Olive Branch, MS; Landon Collins, Olive Branch, MS; Kevin Collins, Olive Branch, MS; Jess Hutchins, Columbus, MS; Elizabeth Keeton, Columbus, MS; and Susan Hayes, Southaven, MS: five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Noel will be Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 12:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Kevin Chrestman officiating. Burial will fallow in Concord Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Collins, Clay Collins, Gary Collins, Elmer Collins III, Butch Ruth and Jerry Cain.
