Listen to Obituary

Olivia Inez McKinney Murphree of Pittsboro was called home from this earthly life on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Pontotoc Hospital following a brief illness. Born on March 8, 1932 to Oscar Jones McKinney and Agnes Idell Cooper McKinney in Troy, Inez was 86.

Inez worked for both the Glen Slacks Company and the Indianapolis Glove Company. Additionally, Inez provided Weyerhaeuser, along with several other local businesses and private homes with contract cleaning services. A devoted homemaker, Inez loved her family dearly. Blessed with many talents, she loved gardening, sharing the fruits of her labor by cooking and canning her harvest with friends and family. An avid fan of John Wayne movies, Inez also enjoyed writing Poetry. As a devoted member of West Pontotoc Pentecostal Church, Inez had a deep and devoted faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gave her the desire to share her love with her family and friends during her 86 years with us. We can cherish the memories and love we shared with Inez, taking comfort in knowing she was called home by the father to a much better place.

Left to cherish her memories and love, Inez leaves behind her Daughters, Lola M. (James R.) Allen of Pontotoc, Mary Katherine (Travis “Jack”) Montgomery of Byhalia, Barbara Winter of Bruce, and Betty (Tommy) Crawford of Hernando; Son, Doug (Summer) Murphree of Pontotoc; Sisters, Marie Carter of Norwalk, CA, Imogene Upchurch of Longview, TX, and Peggy Bevers of Texas City, TX; Grandchildren, Dawn M.
