Opal Ada Goodwin, 95 of Water Valley, Mississippi passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, Mississippi.
She was born Sunday, October 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter Blansett and the late Niecie Hollis Blansett. She was the wife of the late Homer Goodwin. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Stella Stewart of Water Valley, MS and Brenda Kay Goodwin of Water Valley, MS, brother, Walter T. Blansett, Jr. of Murfreesboro, AR. She had 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 35 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild.
She was predeceased by sons ,Doyle Goodwin and Tom Goodwin, daughters, Betty Ruth Sigler and Jewel Burk, brothers, Earnest Blansett, John Blansett, and Evans Blansett, sister, Clara Dendy and one grandchild Mike Sprayberry.
Opal was a member of Mt. Comfort Baptist Church, a devoted homemaker, and a loving mother. She enjoyed working in the garden, canning vegetables, and quilting.
The Funeral Ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.R. Eaton officiating. Interment will be in Bruce Cemetery, Bruce, MS.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Eubanks, Edwin Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin, Big Christopher Norwood, Christopher Norwood, Jacob Norwood, Josh Norwood, Matthew Newman, Mason Newman, and Walter Stewart.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home, 476 hwy 9n, Bruce, Mississippi.
