Ottis Earl Poynor

Ottis Earl Poynor, 69, of Banner, departed from this life on Monday, July 17, 2023, at his home in Banner, MS. He was born on November 20, 1953, in Banner, MS to Eula Marcell "Mutt" Poynor and Erma Lou Hillhouse Poynor.

Ottis spent many seasons of life in the lawncare business working for Poynor Lawncare until his retirement. In his spare time Ottis loved walking and loved to play rook. He was a faithful christian man that loved going to church and tent crusades. Ottis read his bible daily and was a member of Jesus Is Lord Church of Vardaman.

He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence; mother, Erma Lou Poynor of Banner, MS; wife, Janice Poynor of Banner; Makayla (Griffin Hutchins) Poynor of Big Creek; sister, Kathy (Riley) Harris of Banner; four brothers: Brice (Amanda) Poynor of Paris; Marcell (Cynthia) Poynor of Paris, MS; Dobbie (Krista) Poynor of Banner; Leonard Poynor of Banner; grandson due in November, Tripp Hutchins of Big Creek.

Ottis is preceded in death by his father, Eula "Mutt" Marcell Poynor; grandparents: Nathaniel and Lila Poynor; Lesley and Tina Hillhouse.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce. The service honoring Ottis' life will take place on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce with Bro. Johnny Davidson and Bro. Keith Spratlin officiating. Kelly Davidson, Riley Harris, Brice Poynor, Dean Poynor, Dobbie Poynor, Kaleb Poynor, Leonard Poynor, and Marcell Poynor will carry Ottis to rest in Memory Memorial Garden. James Ray Bumgart, Lewis Bumgart, Thomas Earl Bumgart, Lonnie Morphis, Brad Poynor, and Jeff Tingle will serve as honorary pallbearers.
