With hearts full of love, we celebrate the life of Patsy Goodson Beadle, 85, of Texarkana, Arkansas, who went home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2025. Patsy was born on June 22, 1940, in Big Creek, Mississippi, to the late Eddie Washie Goodson and Minnie Ola Kennum Goodson . She was preceded in death by her husbands, Drennon Adams, the father of their children and Dr. Gene Beadle and her brother, Phillip Goodson. She is also survived by her brother, Marvis (Betty) Goodson of Calhoun City, Mississippi.
Patsy’s greatest blessing in life was being a mother. She poured her heart into raising her children, Rebecca Lynn Sutherland of Texarkana, Texas and Kenneth R. (Angela) Adams, of Olive Branch, Mississippi and they remained the center of her world. The bond she shared with them was one of deep love, unwavering support, and countless cherished memories. That love multiplied through her grandchildren—Megan (Bryan) Stotts, Kenny (Kayla) Adams, Brooke (Jeremy) Thornton, David Sutherland II, and Brandi Sutherland—and her great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy: Beckett and Blair Stotts, Amelia and Annabelle Adams, Adelyn Jones, Seth, Emily, Bella, and Cory Thornton. To her family, she was not only “Mom” and “Grandma,” but also their safe place, encourager, and constant source of love.
Patsy was born in Big Creek, Mississippi and graduated from Big Creek High School class of 1958. Patsy worked for many years at FedEx Express, where she built lifelong friendships. She was well known for her famous “Patty Cakes,” but even more so for the laughter, encouragement, and warmth she shared with everyone she met.
She was a woman of strong faith, and her walk with the Lord began on May 13, 1962 at Emanuel Baptist Church in Grenada, Mississippi where she was baptized in faith. She was a longtime member of Carriage Hills Baptist Church in Southaven and Antioch Baptist Church in Banner, Mississippi, and she lived her faith daily through acts of kindness and love.
In her last months, weeks, and days, Patsy battled a lengthy illness with great strength, always greeting her family with a smile as if nothing was wrong. She spent her final years in Texarkana lovingly cared for by her daughter Rebecca, whose devotion and tender care brought her comfort and peace until the very end.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Parker Funeral Home in Bruce, Mississippi, with service at 2 PM and interment following the service at Antioch Cemetery in Banner, Mississippi. Officiating in the funeral service will be Bro. Darrell Logan and Bro. Hal Clark.
Pallbearers will be Ken Adams, Kenny Adams, Eddie Wayne Goodson, Mark Goodson, Beckett Stotts and Bryan Stotts.
Though she will be dearly missed, Patsy’s love lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her children will forever carry her love and strength in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers Patsy's family ask that all memorial contributions be made to the Antioch Cemetery Fund, C/O Tommy Roane, P.O. Box 506, Bruce, MS 38915.
